India beat New Zealand by 10 wkts (D/L Method)

A sensational century from Virender Sehwag saw India crush New Zealand by 10 wickets (D/L) in the rain-reduced fourth ODI in Hamilton.

Sehwag smashed 125 off just 74 balls as he and Gautam Gambhir steered their side into an unassailable 3-0 lead in the five-match series.

Replying to New Zealand's 270-5 off 47 overs, the Indian openers plundered runs at will as they reached their amended target off just 23.3 overs.

And such was the assault on the New Zealand bowling that the tourists still had 12.3 overs in hand at the finish.

Sehwag's impressive knock included 14 fours and six sixes, while Gambhir scored at a more sedate 63 off 67 balls.

And Sehwag brought up his ton off 60 balls with a towering six off the bowling of New Zealand skipper Daniel Vettori, who was back in the side following the birth of his son.

Dismissed
Iain O'Brien suffered the most at the hands of the duo, with his three overs costing 37 runs, while new cap Ewen Thompson was given a rough introduction to international cricket as he conceded 42 runs off his four overs.

Even the normally tight Vettori suffered with his five overs going for 32 - with Gambhir also reaching his half-century off his bowling.

Earlier, New Zealand looked to have posted a decent score as Jesse Ryder (46) and Brendon McCullum (77) put on 102 for the opening wicket.

The Black Caps did lose Ross Taylor and Jacob Oram cheaply, while Martin Guptill got bogged down before being dismissed for 25 off 49 balls.

However wicketkeeper Peter McGlashan smashed an unbeaten 56 off 42 balls, incuding six fours and a six, and Grant Elliott added a quickfire 35 not out to add late impetus to the innings with an unbroken stand of 95.

Ishant Sharma was the pick of the India bowlers, removing Oram and Guptill in successive overs, while Yuvraj Singh accounted for the dangerous Ryder and Zaheer Khan trapped McCullum leg before.
